In 2015, the owners of Medicine Wall took drastic measures and closed the crag to the public. They stripped all of the hardware from the wall and local climbers lost a beloved climbing resource. Learn how Access Fund and TCC opened it back up. https://www.accessfund.org/latest-news/what-does-it-take-to-reopen-a-closed-crag

Many a metaphoric parallel can be drawn between climbing and motherhood, and itā€™s plain to see neither activity makes the other any easier. by Mallory Logan, originally published in The Climbing Zine, Volume 6 (out of print) Countless others who have already made the journey will offer their beta and guidance in kindhearted earnest, butā€¦ https://climbingzine.com/mom-crux-mallory-logan/

Just back from sport #climbing at Horseshoe Quarry in the #peakdistrict. Weather was really good with just a couple of short rain showers yesterday. The rock in the quarry was in pretty good condition. I lead a route and did a multi pitch on a 32m route in the slab section. It has been pretty special climbing in warm sunshine in the UK.

    American Alpine ClubA
In this episode, we sit down with Jarod, a long-time AAC member, to discuss a crazy accident he had at his home crag in Missouri, and how he utilized the AACā€™s rescue benefit to cover the cost of his medical expenses. If youā€™ve been wondering if the AACā€™s rescue benefit is for you, Jarodā€™s story helps explain how it works. We dive into the quirky concept of ā€œgirdle traversesā€ or mulitpitches that go sideways, and analyze his accidentā€” the decisions he made, how traversing complicates gear placements, and the close calls he had. Funnily enough, Jarod also did a FA on that same wallā€”putting up Missouriā€™s potentially longest rock climb with Jeremy Collins, and this FA made it into the American Alpine Journal! We discuss the vision behind this 8-pitch traverse, what went into making it happen, the silliness of climbing, the unique belay tactics for traversing, and more! https://americanalpineclub.org/news/2024/6/26/protect-first-ascents-ground-falls-and-the-aac-rescue-benefit-in-action
