More #climbing gear, hot off the Bernina. A chalk bag for lead climbing, to match the bouldering one I made a while ago. I'm particularly proud of the attachment system. Two Velcro straps that loop through the back gear loops on my harness, meaning that it stays where you want it, and the Velcro is swapped on each loop so you can use it as a single loop if you need. This is an iteration of the last one I made, but with chonkier fabric. #sewing #IDidAThing

@stib neat! are you using a standard sewing machine for this heavier sort of stitching?

That's so clever! What did you use for the lining?

So great to custom-make your own bags like that. I'm confident with small cotton woven bags but haven't found that sort of heavy-duty fabric for outdoor use. I'll keep a lookout.

Thanks for letting me know that. I think I have a place that sells some of the fabrics. As you say, it's a gamble to buy online and for me, it's a gamble to sew anything that is completely new to me. In the meantime, I have no shortage of projects to complete and commence. Way back during its early days, Our #MountainEquipmentCoop sold fabrics for outdoor activities and my roommate sewed all her own gear. I'll keep my eyes and ears open.

That spot looks fabulous!! When I lived in Asia, I could easily buy PVC, fabric, and buckles for this sort of item since I lived close to "Awning Street", where everything was sold wholesale. They'd happily sell me a 1/2 metre of whatever. Here, everything seems to be factory-made and not available for general use. -
