Some easy, relaxed climbing in Yvoir, Belgium today
Some easy, relaxed #climbing in #Yvoir, #Belgium today.A large rockslide took out most of the top layer of this slab 3 years ago. The yellow bits in the first picture are newly exposed rock; the dark grey is some of the old rock surface that is still hanging on.
Back from a trip to the Lake District.
Back from a trip to the Lake District. On the negative side, I didn't get three days climbing... On the super-positive side, I did get two days of Mountain Training Development Coach training with the ever-excellent John Kettle PLUS a day of climbing at Trowbarrow Quarry. As a bonus, also a nice stay at Lyndhurst Guest House in Kendal and a play at KendalWall on their long autobelays.#MountainTraining #Climbing #TradClimbing #Coaching #ClimbingIsMyPassion #Kendal #LakeDistrict #LimestoneClimbing
My the first visit to Swiss crags.
My the first visit to Swiss crags. Eppenberg near Aarau.Local climbers did a very good job taking care of the place. Pitty that we didn't have more time. Climbing was our lowest priority of the day. #climbing #switzerlnd
Climbing at Leda today
Climbing at Leda today! Ellie is officially a crag dog!! Had a short day, so only really did 3 climbs (Gigantic, Treehugger, Footloose). Always a good day when you touch rock though [image: 1730430406087-pxl_20241031_182149653.mp-resized.jpg] [image: 1730430407135-pxl_20241031_184429111-resized.jpg] [image: 1730430408068-pxl_20241031_184445033-resized.jpg] [image: 1730430409602-pxl_20241031_181838953.mp-resized.jpg] #climbing #rockclimbing #lowerleda #southeast #openbeta

Bottle Glass Crag (Rattlesnake Point)
A new favourite in the area, Bottle Glass has got some nice unpolished moderates away from the crowds at the main wall. All you have to put up with is a floor covered in glass shards from the practices of local drunks, hence the name. This is what it's all about! 🧗‍♀️
This is what it's all about! 🧗‍️Recently helped kit out a young local climber for her school trip to Spain - now look at her crushing it! Proper made our day getting these photos. Nothing better than seeing the next generation of climbers developing their skills! #outdoors #OutdoorAdventure #climbing #ClimbingGear
Fun #climbing in Dave yesterday.
Fun #climbing in Dave yesterday. A crag called Rochers de Néviaux. Another old limestone crag bordering the river Meuse. Lots of pockets and overhangs, which I’m not very good at. But fun nevertheless. (not me in the pictures)
We had a nice #climbing session with friends at Kršlenica (Hromové) in #slovakia.Projects for both of us finished successfully.

This weekend had first trad climbing experience outside of mountaineering routes
This weekend had first trad climbing experience outside of mountaineering routesThe rock was technically easy to climb, but a bit scary. Positive slope means falling to the last anchor will hurt a lotTurns out I didn't know some essential things about building anchors (like the correct way to clip into self-equalizing anchor). Also lack of practice since the spring made me work way slower than I used toBut thanks to the great mountaineer leading our group we learned a lot in a single day, even practised with 6-8 types of anchors..at the very end I chipped away a corn kernel sized piece of fingernail while hammering out some pitons in the dark ^~^#climbing
Well, it wasn't sport ALL day; Jeremy decided to "try" an E1 trad route in my absolute favourite style (/sarc).
Well, it wasn't sport ALL day; Jeremy decided to "try" an E1 trad route in my absolute favourite style (/sarc). Time to see if my occasional and minimal practice has supplied me with ANY jamming skills at all... For those who don't speak UK trad, 5c English Technical is maybe 6a sport - assuming you can jam! This felt ooooo 6c at least #Climbing #TradClimbing #LimestoneClimbing #WyeValleyClimbing #Wyndcliffe #OutdoorClimbing #TopRoping
Trad at Plas Y Brenin
I spent this last week in North Wales on a lead #climbing course at Plas Y Brenin. Although it was late in the year the course instructor managed to get us climbing outside every day. We explored many of the interesting crags available including the sea cliffs. It was a great course and Peter was a great guide and instructor. I’ve learned loads and am looking forwards to getting out next year exploring more of the amazing #tradclimbing places in North Wales.
Climbing in the Dolomites a few weeks ago.
#Klettern in den #Dolomiten vor ein paar Wochen. Das Wetter war meistens wolkig aber gut. Nur an den Cinque Torri wurden wir beim Abseilen eingeseift. #Climbing in the #dolomites a few weeks ago. The weather was cloudy but mostly good. Only at the Cinque Torri we got drenched while rappelling.

So that was a good couple of days... Got my Foundation Coach done (thanks to Garland Mountaineering and some very patient students who hung around for me to make it to Exeter), then got to spend a chill evening with a friend (Mark), followed by a comfy sofa to sleep on and (better still) a trip to #Dewerstone today to send this rather fabulous VS, Leviathan, in a stunning setting.#climbing #TradClimbing #Trad #DevonClimbing
