Here's where I got a bit confused. AlpineSavvy recommends in that blog post to use another carabiner to shorten your 120cm sling to avoid the failure mode introduced by unclipping the first carabiner altogether and re-clipping incorrectly. My standard practice is to just use the first (and only) carabiner to hook the shelf to shorten it. Is there a hidden failure mode I'm missing here?
