Bouldern in Fountainbleau Felsen mit Überhängen sind eine gewaltige Anstrengung #FotoVorschlag Overhanging #boulders are a real challenge. As well as needing quite a bit of strength just to pull yourself up, you also need the right technique. It’s not at all easy to hold yourself up using just your fingers and toes. This is Gideon and my contribution to today's #PhotoSuggestion, “Effort”. Last year we went on a climbing holiday to #Fontainebleau in #France. The area is absolutely beautiful and, as well as offering sporting challenges, is perfect for hiking or cycling along the Seine. #photooftheday #picoftheday #photography #fotografie #fotografia #sunstar #portrait #boulder #bouldering #climbing #rockclimbing #frankreich #sports #outdoors #nature

Not sure how active the rope solo scene is on fedi, but I figure I'd ask. There's been quite a bit of discussion over the years about various systems, but the modern consensus seems to be to use two progress capture devices on a single (or dual) fixed line, with one suspended higher than the other via use of a neck strap or chest harness. By far (at least in North America) the consensus seems to be to use the Petzl Microtraxion. The Edelrid Spoc seems to be a good alternative, is both lighter and cheaper, and is also mentioned occasionally in discussions about TRS. Brent Barghahn is seen in this photo in a double-Spoc setup: [image: 1733628906847-1000006397.jpg] Any potential problems I should be considering?

Words are from the traditional song “Wild Mountain Thyme.” The basis of this trip was simple: climb rocks and drink scotch. The weather, being highly Scottish, even in the so-called drier month of May, lent itself more to the latter than the former. But hey, we still managed nine days of climbing out of twenty;… https://climbingzine.com/scotch-on-the-rocks-by-greg-petliski/
