wrote on 13 Sept 2024, 00:11 last edited by@ai6yr If the harness is anything like in the photos, I'm really not sure how you'd fuck up figuring out where to attach your clip, unless the green color and arrow are pointing to the non-load-bearing part of the harness.

I bought one of the harnesses in question back in the 1980's. There was an REI branded model. The issue was that there were two tie in loops in the front side by side, and if you didn't tie into both it put a shearing strain on the stitching.

@mikemccaffrey@pdx.social that's what my first thought was too. Lay any one of those rental harnesses on the ground and you've got a rats nest of webbing.
Sounds like a voluntary recall. Perhaps the new version will have lots of brightly coloured arrows.
