Forty years after making the first ascent, Ben Moon is back on Statement of Youth, aroute that not only represented the cutting edge in terms of difficulty at the time of its first ascent, but also marked the dawn of a new approach to the discipline of climbing in the UK as a whole.
During late 2024 and early 2025, my approach to climbing was pretty serious. I wanted it to be that way. I'd found a series of projects which inspired me and pushed me to be better than I was, and I wanted to do what it took to climb them.
